Airzone, a maker of smart HVAC control solutions, announced today that it has launched a new integration with Lutron – a leading brand of lighting and shading solutions supported by many residential integrators. This integration brings precise temperature control and empowers HVAC energy efficiency via Lutron’s Homeworks home automation system.
Learn more about the Airzone integration with Lutron
As a leader in smart HVAC systems control, Airzone has over the last couple of decades built up an impressive library of certified protocols for leading inverter, ductless, mini-split, multi-split, and VRF (variable refrigerant flow) manufacturers. This enables their products to add full two-way control of virtually all modern HVAC systems and provides for precise temperature set points not possible with other solutions, as well as system energy savings of up to 60%.
Now Lutron integrators can bring these remarkable capabilities to their Homeworks clients via an integration using QSX processors.
A Commitment to Providing the Ultimate in Comfort and Control
We are proud to work with Lutron as fellow pioneers in home automation. We share a commitment to providing users with the ultimate in comfort and control, while also supporting efficiency.
Antonio Mediato, Airzone CEO
The company says that in the past, integrations between HVAC systems and modern home automation solutions have been challenging due to a wide variety of compatibility issues. While workarounds evolved, final solutions were rarely elegant or intuitive. Now, with this partnership with Lutron, clients will discover that they can control their important home environment systems as simply and intuitively as they control their lighting and shading solutions.
Full Control of Today’s and Emerging HVAC Systems
Airzone also notes that with this new integration with Lutron, integrators residential clients will be ready for the future. Studies show that sales of high-efficiency solutions such as inverter / VRF systems will grow by over 13% per year over the next 7 years, according to research from Infineon, spurred on by federal and local energy efficiency rebates. With this integration, Lutron Homeworks clients will have full and precise control over these systems from any trigger in the Lutron system like keypad buttons, schedules, Palladiom thermostats, and the Lutron app.
Lutron strives to deliver an elevated experience for our homeowners through elegant, precise control of the most critical environmental aspects of a residence, including lighting and temperature. Integrating with Airzone unifies control of lighting and temperature – the two most important systems for comfort in any environment -and offers the potential for substantial energy savings

Full Control, Whether a Single or Multi-Zone System
In a single-zone setup, Airzone integrates with the Lutron Palladiom Thermostat via the Aidoo Pro. This easy-to-install device enables two-way communication between the Inverter / VRF unit and the thermostat. You can easily set:
- Temperature set point
- Operation mode
- Fan speed
- Unit on/off
In a multi-zone scenario, the company says that the integration takes place between the Airzone webserver HUB and the Homeworks QSX Processor. With this setup, features are enabled such as:
- Centralized configuration and control of zone parameters
- Control of up to 3 separate Airzone HVAC control systems
- Seamless control of combined radiant and air heating/cooling stages
- Remote error and warning detection of the HVAC unit
The company says that the Airzone solution is now available in the latest Lutron Designer Software.
