As promised at last month’s CES, AudioControl is now shipping the latest model in its popular Architect line – the 2660. Sure to be a workhorse amplifier that will be the backbone of many system installations, the Architect 2660 brings a lot of channels, power, and flexibility to the table.

From deep in the rainforests surrounding Seattle, WA, AudioControl announced today that they are now shipping the model 2660 power amplifier, part of their popular Architect series of multi-zone amplifiers. The company says that they first showed the 2660 at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, and promised quick availability of the model to dealers. Now…AudioControl has delivered on that promise.
The 2660 looks to be the workhorse upon which many different system configurations can be built. Featuring 16 channels of clean 65-watts (RMS, 8Ω)/100-watts (RMS, 4Ω) power, the 2660 can be bridged to an 8-channel amplifier with 175-watts/channel.
Flexibility and quality…
This kind of configuration flexibility is sure to be popular with integrators – and in fact the company says it consulted with more than 60 custom integration companies from around the country on the design and features of the 2660. But AudioControl did not forgo quality for flexibility, assuring integrators that the 2660 is rock solid stable…even at 4 ohms.
So quality and flexibility are built-in to the 2660. And so is install-ability – the 2660 with 16-channels of dynamic power only takes 2U of rack space. AudioControl says the 2660 is also an energy miser – only drawing a mere ½ watt of standby power.
Connectivity with a capital “C”…
AudioControl has also packed in a full complement of amazingly flexible connectivity options – both analog and digital. There are 16-local zone analog inputs, plus 2-BUSS inputs – on analog and one digital. For high quality digital performance, the 2660 utilizes a Wolfson 32-195kHz, 16/24-bit DAC.
The company has also added both 12-volt and signal sensing triggers that are selectable and discrete for each zone. And the 2660 features plenty of protection against hazards of the field, including: clipping, short circuit, thermal, ultrasonic, DC offset, and their proprietary LightDrive anti-clipping protection.
“The Architect 2660 has been an incredibly satisfying design project for our engineering teams in Seattle,” Alex Camara, CEO of AudioControl said in a prepared statement. “The team has launched the next generation of amplifiers that add flexibility and high performance with its design and features directly benefiting from input from some of the best custom integration companies in the world and complements perfectly our entire 2015 lineup that continues our mission to make good sound great in everything we do for our customers.”
More great policies…
The Architect 2660 comes with removable rack ears and is available for immediate shipping. The company offers a full 5-year warranty on the 2660, one of the best warranties in the industry.
AudioControl does not publish MSRP pricing, so we can’t tell you how much the Architect 2660 costs. The company chooses to let its dealers set their own prices which, given the hyper-competitive nature of the electronics industry these days, is probably a very popular policy with AudioControl dealers.
