High-end audio electronics and loudspeaker manufacturer Bryston announced this week the launch of an all-new preamplifier called the BP-19. Calling it an ultra-high-performance analog preamplifier, the company says it leverages years of R&D and design innovations from the development of its BR-20 preamplifier, a model that is said to have won multiple awards.
Learn all about the Bryston BP-19 preamplifier
Bryston digs deep into its bank of design innovations to deliver a superlative performance from a reasonably moderately priced preamplifier. Key elements include an oversized toroidal power transformer, hand-matched premium components, a top-performing operational amplifier (op amp), a balanced design, and their finest compact circuit architecture for low noise and superior common mode rejection.
Nothing was left to chance – the company even uses an upgraded volume attenuator for long-life, quiet, and linear performance. Add to all of these fine components meticulous hand-crafted assembly excellence and you truly have a preamplifier that pulls the veil away to reveal the most honest and accurate musical performance.
The Ins and Outs of the BP-19
The BP-19 preamp includes two pairs of balanced XLR inputs and four pairs of RCA inputs. There are two pairs of RCA phono outputs (one fixed, one variable) and two pairs of balanced XLR outputs (one fixed, one variable).
Bryston is offering its renowned BP-2 moving magnet phono stage circuit as an onboard option for the BP-19 preamp. The company says the BP-2 is highly accurate, extremely low noise, low distortion, and provides headroom margins sufficient to prevent overload from any known phono source. The company also offers custom-built outboard step-up transformers for low output moving coil cartridges.
Many of the features of the BP-19 can be controlled using the included infrared remote control. Each of the six analog inputs is selectable on the remote and on the front panel of the preamp as well. HEX codes are available for use with a universal remote control. The unit can also be controlled remotely from a smart home ecosystem when connected via the RS232 or Ethernet ports on the rear panel. There are also trigger outputs to control other equipment such as a power amplifier.
Flexible Faceplates
The BP-19 is available in five standard faceplate finishes, as well as in either 17- or 19-inch widths. A 19-inch rackmount adapter is also available for pro applications. The company also offers optional personalized custom faceplate colors for this preamp as well as its other electronics. The buyer can choose from standard colors or a completely custom finish.
Pricing and Availability
The BP-19 will be available during the third quarter of 2023. It sells for an MSRP of $5,195.
