Like a carefully scripted political debate, Day 0 of CES (Day 1 for most of the press) opened with great fanfare…but offered no real surprises. Day 0 – officially known as Press Day – is an endless series of press conferences in which major manufacturers make their significant announcements and present their plans for 2015. And this year these press conferences, for the most part, followed their expected path – not even a Michael Bay meltdown emerged to spice it up a bit like last year!

Economists Predict Rapid Ramp-Up in Residential Construction
We were fortunate enough to receive an invitation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) allowing us to participate in their annual Fall Construction Forecast presentation, a webinar put on for the benefit of their members last week. Their predictions were – to put it mildly – shocking! Read below to find out why…

CEDIA Releases Expo Attendance – Getting Better, But a Long Way to Go
This week the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) announced the attendance figures and other pertinent data from last week’s Expo trade show in Denver, CO. The association justifiably crowed about attendance growth as it apparently continues to move up from the post-2007 recession trough which had painful consequences for both the association and its members (not to mention the US consumer).

The economists this year were, overall, cautiously optimistic – with a heavy emphasis on caution.
