A couple of interesting announcements this week from Premium Audio Company (PAC), the Voxx Int’l subsidiary that markets the company’s premier audio brands such as Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, Jamo, Pioneer, Elite, and more. First up, Rob Standley gets a big promotion to President of Technology and Product, a big step up. Second, and I would say counter-intuitively, the company says it’s lowering prices on many of its “most popular and best-selling audio solutions.”

Masimo v. Apple – Judge Declares a Mistrial as Jury Hopelessly Deadlocked
BREAKING NEWS
In a result likely to be viewed by many as anti-climatic, U.S. District Judge James V. Selna has declared a mistrial in the matter of the $1.8 billion trade secret lawsuit between Masimo Corp. et al vs. Apple Inc. et. al. And while I am sure that both sides are disappointed that they failed to prevail, both can take away some positive elements from this null decision that will most likely inform their approach in a new trial.

Its Biggest Battle Yet with the World’s Largest Tech Corp
As I write this post on Wednesday, it is the opening day of the patent infringement and trade secrets trial based on a lawsuit filed by Masimo Corporation [NASDAQ: MASI] and Cercacor Laboratories, Inc. (a Masimo-affiliated company) versus Apple, Inc. [NASDAQ: AAPL]. You could call it David vs. Goliath, as tiny Masimo tangles with Apple, the largest corporation in the world. This lawsuit was originally filed back in January 2020 by Masimo who claims that Apple has misappropriated trade secrets by hiring former Masimo employees and stealing Masimo patented technologies, valuable intellectual property (IP) they consider trade secrets, for use in Apple products.

WiSA Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WISA) has been on a wild and rocky ride over the last few days as it scrambled to head off a delisting action by the Nasdaq stock exchange designed to force its stock listing off the exchange. At issue, the company’s business struggles that contributed to its declining stock bid prices have put it in violation of specific exchange rules governing maintained minimum pricing levels. This led the exchange to begin the delisting process, which WiSA appealed in order to buy itself some time.
The company then quickly embarked on a strategy – a mad dash really – to inflate its stock price artificially via a reverse stock split. But this tactic appears to have failed to impress investors, causing its stock bid price to collapse like an out-of-control toboggan ride down a cliff.
