A new AV-over-IP solution popular in the pro channel is launching at CEDIA Expo – Dante by Audinate. According to the company’s announcement, Dante “dominates the world of professional audio.” The company also claims that it is rapidly being adopted by several manufacturers of residential gear as well. A fact which brings them to CEDIA.

According to Audinate, Dante’s technology provides for the delivery of “hundreds of uncompressed audio channels” all over a standard Ethernet network. By leveraging standard Ethernet infrastructure, Dante is said to lower cost and increase the speed of installation as compared to systems requiring proprietary single-purpose audio cables – music to integrators’ ears.
The company also claims that Dante offers audio delivery over long runs with no degradation in the signal at all – “making it perfect for higher-end residential homes with multi-zone audio setups.”
Dante: Over 2,000 Products from 430 Manufacturers
With over 2,000 commercial products from more than 430 manufacturers – all with guaranteed interoperability – the company says this fact makes Dante the “de-facto leader in networked audio.” Integrators, they say, can pick the best products from any category with full confidence that it will all work together seamlessly.
By using AVIO adapters, legacy gear can be brought on to a Dante network. Also, using Dante Virtual Soundcard, or Dante Via, media streaming is enabled to play up to 64 channels of audio.
