Crestron Electronics, a leading provider of smart workplace collaboration technology, announced today that in May 2023, it will hold another Modern Work Summit 2023 in Madrid. A follow-up to the first such event held in Orlando, FL last year, Modern Work Summit 2023 is a two-day in-person event centered on the topic of the dynamic and evolving workplace of today (and tomorrow), and the technology that helps power the transition.

As a leading manufacturer of modern workplace technology, such as unified communications & collaboration devices (UCC), Crestron has been at the forefront of the evolving digital workplace. A long-term trend towards technology empowering more effective communication and collaboration in the workplace was turbocharged when COVID-19, a global pandemic that resulted in whole countries shuttering schools and businesses to protect their populations, forced dramatically altered workforce distribution and operations.
As the world slowly moves past COVID, many of the trends impacting workplace transformation are still at play – emphasizing the need for just this type of conference. The Modern Work Summit 2023 will bring together key sector thought leaders, the absolutely latest research, and engaging discussions to inform attendees as they navigate what’s next.
Trends are Transforming the Workplace and the Workforce
This summit will inspire Digital Workplace specialists, IT Managers, Facilities representatives, and HR leaders “to proactively rethink the modern workplace and will cover the cultural shifts and realignments of today’s organizational climate,” according to the company’s formal announcement. Presentations from notable speakers will serve to highlight just how the physical workplace is being repurposed and redesigned, as well as reveal the technological factors pivotal in transforming how we work.
As technology innovators, collaboration and purpose-built solutions that foster productivity have always been top of mind for the AV/IT industry. The shift to hybrid and its growing popularity as a mainstay in today’s workforce has expanded that perspective to include every aspect of a workspace beyond just the digital tools. The Modern Work Summit is a unique opportunity for leaders from various factions of a business to come together, hear from experts in the field, and equip themselves with the strategies needed to set their employees up for success in the workplace.

Enabling Better Collaboration in Hybrid Workforce Deployments
According to recent research by Crestron, 84% of employees say they regularly have at least one remote participant in their meetings. As the company notes, “the dynamic of the meeting changes as it becomes hybrid.” Trends like these are accelerating the need for decisive strategies that foster productivity and collaboration.
The Modern Work Summit will feature keynote speakers Andreas Ekstrom and futurist Philip Ross who will serve to kick off discussions. Also featured will be representatives from Microsoft, Intel, Gensler, Jabra, Accenture, and Wainhouse Research will present their latest findings.
Unlearning Past Workplace Conventions to Design a Better Current Solution
Ross, in particular, will highlight his “manifesto” for what he calls “unworking” – which means unlearning old habits and rituals “established for an outdated office” and creating new ones fit for an age of digital technology, design innovation, and diverse workforces.
Journalist Ekstrom will propose the idea that the workplace of today must offer a balance between liberty and control, independence and detailed coaching. Crestron says that Ekstrom is known for “unequivocal and compelling ideas on how to organize changes for the future of the workplace.”
How do we make decisions in the digital workplace? How are we inventing a new idea of collective work while not being together in the same room? These are the most difficult challenges for the digital decade and the Modern Work Summit will be a fantastic forum for our presenters and attendees to think forward on how to address these challenges. During the Modern Work Summit, I’ll challenge the attendees to think, analyze, and reconfigure the skills they already have.
