Frank Sterns, a well-known and highly regarded (some would say renowned) industry executive, has been retained to consult on custom integration matters with Nationwide Marketing Group. Clearly a sign of just how serious the large diversified Nationwide organization is about targeting custom integration, Sterns brings a wealth of Grade A experience as a leader in the custom integration space.

Frank Sterns has a long and illustrious career in the industry. He is mostly known for his time at two companies key to custom integration – first at Niles Audio, where he started as Vice President of Sales and ultimately became President of this audio brand that was once a pillar of the custom integration industry; Second at Sony, where as Vice President of Audio Video Specialty/Custom Integration he headed up the company’s push into the custom integration space, seeking to help them become the leading video brand in the channel.
Sterns also did a four-year stint at Sound United, now Masimo Consumer. For Sound United, he served as President of their Polk Audio and Definitive Technology brands.
Instrumental to the ‘Overal CI Strategy’
Nationwide says that Sterns will be instrumental in contributing to the “overall CI strategy” for each of the company’s CI-centric group brands, including Azione Unlimited, Ellipsys Commercial Technology Group, and Oasys Residential Technology Group. Through his extensive experience in custom integration, Nationwide believes he will be key to helping the organization optimize each of its groups to better support members in both residential and commercial segments.
We’ve built a strong foundation within our CI team over the past two years, which has led to the rapid growth we’re experiencing right now. Frank is a tremendous talent in our industry, and he will be a phenomenal resource for our organization as we look to build on this momentum and create efficiencies across our three groups.

Expected to Play a Key Role in ‘Drive to 1,000’
According to Nationwide, Sterns is already at work reviewing and assessing programs and offerings, event strategy, processes, and more. They are confident he will play a key role in helping advance Nationwide’s “Drive to 1,000” initiative to build collective membership to 1,000 integrators.
Nationwide Marketing Group has embraced the custom integration channel with a substantial commitment of energy and resources, including a veteran crew of talented people, many of whom I have had the pleasure of working with during my career. Their passion for this space that means so much to me is inspiring, and I’m excited to jump in with both feet to help Nationwide and the custom integration membership thrive.

A Breadth of Experience to Help Build for Growth
The company notes that Sterns has a breadth of experience and skills that will be useful as the organization is experiencing a period of rapid growth, necessitating a scaling of its infrastructure to support that growth. Nationwide’s Orozco also says that Sterns has a “humble and collaborative” business style that “align[s] seamlessly with our culture” and makes him a perfect fit for the organization.
Sterns will be in attendance at the upcoming Oasys Summit in Austin, TX, April 29-May1.
