The company will also launch new modules for its Sonance Design Gallery – winner of the “Best New Software” award at last year’s CEDIA Expo 2023.
Also to be unveiled is a redesigned Sonance.com website and a fully functional my.Sonance.com platform with added configuration enhancements. Finally, the company will be demonstrating a new immersive music experience for attendees every 15 minutes. Like I said, it’s a Sonance tsunami of innovation.

The company has prepared an impressive lineup of new models in several key categories, including its popular Small Aperture series – including a new James flagship version – and an all-new line of Sonance Small Aperture speakers; the new Sonance Mariner MX series; a new Sonance Invisible Subwoofer; new Sonance Visual Experience SST and LCR models; James built-to-order SPL soundbars, an enhanced James 853QT, and brand new Sonance & James Finish Boards.
The Incredibly Popular Small Aperture Series
So let’s start with one of the company’s most popular lines – the Small Aperture Series. An innovation created by the company several years ago, the small aperture series is based on an ingenious engineering concept that places larger scale drivers in a box tucked in the ceiling and that is then ported into the space via a small opening or aperture that matches the home’s architectural lighting fixtures for a consistent – almost invisible – look.
At CEDIA Expo 2024, the company is launching two new models into the series: the Sonance SA4-66 and the James SA68. The company notes that this joint or bridged introduction of both a James and a Sonance version offers integrators flexibility. The James SA68 echoes the brand’s ongoing reputation for exceptional sound performance and discreet design perfect for the Luxury Residential, Professional, and Marine market segments.
At the same time, introducing the Sonance SA4-66 offers integrators the flexibility to deliver the Small Aperture experience and aesthetic “in a more budget-friendly solution.”
Says Sonance’s Chief Speaker Engineer Todd Ryan, “With these new additions, we are expanding the offerings, but we are also introducing a new level of performance that has surpassed all our expectations.”
Sonance Mariner MX Outdoor Speakers
Sonance’s Mariner outdoor speakers has been a mainstay in the lineup for over two decades, bringing superior sound into outdoor living spaces. And as more and more homes are prioritizing their outdoor spaces, it was time for an update. At CEDIA Expo 2024, Sonance will launch a “completely redesigned and engineered” series, now known as Mariner MX.
The company says that everything has been updated and upgraded to deliver an optimal audio experience in your outdoor living space. The key features of this new series include:
- Sinusoidal Textured Waveguide Technology – This waveguide delivers better dispersion of fully balanced music with exceptional clarity
- Sonance VX Transducers – The VX transducers deliver higher fidelity for a more immersive experience
- MX Grille Clip System – This clip system offers a seamless grille attachment that is both sleek and secure
- Enhanced Sonance FastMount Bracket Systems – The company says this system offers easy and flexible installation options, accommodating different mounting needs

Visual Experience Series (VX) Adds Key New Models
One of Sonance’s most popular series of speakers is its Visual Experience (VX) Series which had several new base models introduced earlier this year. Now the company has released several new models to fill out the line, including the VX46R SST, VS62R SST, VX66R SST, VX86R SST, and the VX66 SST. These SST models – SST stands for Single Stereo Technology – have been engineered to provide exceptional audio performance in smaller spaces where stereo channel spacing is limited.
The company is also announcing the addition of two new LCR (left-center-right) models for robust front channel support for TV audio and surround sound applications. The company says these new LCR models are the perfect solution for those clients who are both performance-driven and budget-conscious. They could easily become the go-to solution for a myriad of installation situations.
New Models for James SPL Soundbar Series with Quadratech Tweeter Technology
Sonance has announced an expansion of the amazing James SPL Soundbar Series adding three new models – the SPL5QT, SPL6QT, and SPL8QT. As indicated by the QT in their model names, each of these soundbars features James’ remarkable Quadratech Tweeter Technology. These soundbars are built to deliver an exceptional…as in out of this world…audio experience, with crisper detail and broader dispersion. The company says this makes them the perfect choice for a discerning TV and movie enthusiast.
On a personal note, let me say that I personally auditioned an earlier version of James Soundbars and the remarkable Quadratech Tweeter and if you haven’t heard these yet, you owe it to yourself to get an audition as quickly as possible. James was the first company to really design an amazing, no-compromise high-performance soundbar made out of rigid aircraft-grade aluminum that delivered a performance that rivaled a separate component speaker systems. This allowed movie enthusiasts with a space that could only accommodate a soundbar to still be able to enjoy uncompromising movie sound. Remarkable!
These new SPL QT models also feature a new CDX crossover design. The company says that all three new models “will continue to feature the sleek, built-to-order aircraft-grade aluminum construction to precisely match the dimensions and aesthetic of the specific television display per project.
