A new group of industry veterans have formed for the purpose of launching six regional trade shows covering the entire U.S. – three shows taking place in the fourth quarter of 2014 and another three shows in the first quarter of 2015. The group says that this event – called The Tech Tour – came about as the result of manufacturers, representatives, and media representatives working together to provide dealers and installers a new easy-to-attend regional tradeshow and educational event.

According to Dan Kippycash, CEO of The DaVinci Group – a platinum sponsor of the event – and Executive Committee Chairman of The Tech Tour, dealers and manufacturers have been clamoring for a regional industry event that would be more cost-effective to attend as compared to the large one-off national shows that have been the only option over the last few years.
The Tech Tour has been created to fulfill that need. The DaVinci Group [disclosure: TDG is a Strata-gee.com sponsor] is uniquely positioned to determine the need and relative value of an event like this. The company markets three separate brands of products and partners with sales representative firms and dealers as part of a unique business structure. Kippycash says the need for a regional show such as The Tech Tour is obvious.
“Over the past several years, I would hear from dealers all over the country that they wished there were still regional events which are more cost-effective to attend,” Kippycash said in a prepared statement. “After the large shows, many manufacturers would get together and discuss how the show went, and we would all share the same feelings that there must be another option. We discussed the regional rep show experiences; however, we all agreed these firms really don’t have the time or manpower to organize and plan events. Due to a lack of options the rep firms shouldn’t be forced to take their resources away from what they do on a daily basis.”
From these discussions, the concept of The Tech Tour was born. Helping the process along, the trade media outlet Technology Integrator has agreed to become a sponsor of the event and to provide publicity before, during, and after the Tour.
The current schedule for The Tech Tour is as follows:
The Tech Tour has also received sponsorship commitments from Marriott Hotels, Southwest Airlines, and Hertz Car Rental. Kippycash says the group has retained a professional event planning company to ensure all details are completely and competently dispatched..
Kippycash also said that the group conducted several surveys of the industry and the message came through loud and clear that dealers would attend a regional event…and bring their entire teams. The Tech Tour will offer exhibit space, meeting rooms, audio/video demonstration rooms, comprehensive educational course material and an evening of networking.
In what is said to be a first in the industry, The Tech Tour is being conducted on a not-for-profit basis which should help to add even more value for all of the participants.
