Azione Unlimited, part of the Nationwide Marketing Group family of dealer buying groups, announced on Wednesday that it was naming well-known Azione executive Patrick McCarthy as Interim Director. McCarthy steps in as the operational head of the organization – the position recently vacated by the retiring Richard Glikes, the founder of Azione Unlimited.

The announcement from Azione Unlimited noted that while Glikes is no longer involved with day-to-day operations, he remains as a Senior Consultant for the group. It was also announced recently that Glikes has also taken on a role as a Senior Consultant with Daisy, a relatively new company seeking to set up a national network of franchised smart home integration companies.
Azione also notes that as part of his tenure as Interim Director, “McCarthy will actively contribute to Azione Unlimited’s search for a permanent director, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of potential leaders to secure the organization’s best future.”
McCarthy is Well-Known and Respected by Azione Members
McCarthy is well known to the members of Azione Unlimited, as he has served as essentially Glike’s right-hand man in helping to run the organization for the last few years. Joining Azione in May 2019, Patrick was brought on as Director of New Business Development & Dealer Services. In this role, he had direct interaction with many – if not most – of the members of Azione on a daily basis. For many members, Patrick became the face of the organization to them.

From the Azione events I’ve attended, McCarthy appears to be well-regarded by the group’s membership. Azione says that McCarthy “…will work in close partnership with key organizational partners, including Caryn Daugherty, VP of Operations, and Maxi Hohl, Marketing Manager, to ensure the smooth progression of all day-to-day activities and larger projects.”

A Tenuous Time in Azione’s History; McCarthy is the Obvious Choice for Interim Director
This is a sensitive time in the history of Azione Unlimited. Charismatic founder Glikes, literally the person who created the organization and tirelessly recruited members at an uncountable number of industry events has left the group. McCarthy is certainly the obvious choice to step into the directors role on an interim basis…and who knows, perhaps permanently as well.
Whatever the future holds for Azione, this announcement should serve to help calm the nerves and allay any lingering concerns of the membership. They know Patrick and undoubtedly trust him to steer the ship well…even if the waters are a little choppy.
