I continue to be intrigued by the growing influence of vinyl records, a once dominant media that by the early 2000s was thought to be dead. Now, however, after 17 back-to-back years of ever-increasing sales growth (according to RIAA data), it is back. A global phenomenon, this week the U.K. government announced it would now include vinyl records in its official basket of goods used to track inflation.

Retro-Cool: Cambridge Audio Adds Large VU Meters to Its Evo Models
Cambridge Audio announced today that it is introducing VU meters to its Evo models. A once ubiquitous feature of audio amps and recorders for decades – and an accouterment near and dear to this former recording musician and record producer’s heart – the company says VU meters are a “much-requested feature” that will now be available for the company’s award-winning all-in-one players.

Company Turns To Forced Client Fees to Improve Its Results
At the end of last week, Snap One Holdings Corporation [NASDAQ: SNPO] announced the results of its Fiscal Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2023. Much as we’ve seen quarter-by-quarter all year long, the company remained subsumed by a challenging “destocking” market, with Net Sales in Fiscal 2023 finishing down 5.6%, and its Net Loss last year increasing by another 146.3% this year. CEO John Heyman called it “another strong year.”
But was it truly “another strong year?”

In what may be another sign of the post-pandemic blues, data published this week by research firm Antenna showed that growth in streaming service subscriptions in the U.S. dropped by 50% in 2023. Some are saying the boom in streaming is over…or could it be an over-adjustment that will correct itself and return to growth again soon?

This week, Josh.ai held a significant launch of several new products, app improvements, and new integrations as it continues its journey from a voice interface into a full system control provider.
