Luxman announced this week that it is launching its very first network transport that provides for the playback of a wide range of digital file-based and streaming audio sources in a quality component system. This new streamer, the NT-07, embraces the high-end engineering and componentry that is typical of the Luxman brand, helping audiophiles to enjoy a higher grade of musical performance in their home.

I have to admit it, I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for Luxman as many decades ago when I was in specialty audio retail, we offered the brand to our more upscale clientele. In those days we appreciated the fine fit and finish of the line, excellent audio circuit technology, and elegant user interface. I still see many of those same strengths in the line today.
We didn’t need a streaming solution back in my specialty audio retailing days, but today’s customers certainly do and Luxman steps forward to offer a much-desired contemporary solution that also embodies its historic strengths in elevated product design and performance. There may be many other network streaming solutions out there…but there’s no other such solution carrying the Luxman brand.
A Collection of Components Carefully Considered
The NT-07 accepts sound files from local storage and music streaming services via Ethernet, USB, and HDMI, provides comprehensive playback control, then outputs audio to any external digital-to-analog converter. As Luxman begins celebrating our 100th anniversary heading into 2025, we’re offering the Luxman NT-07 solution to all audio enthusiasts as a component allowing musical enjoyment with more depth and variety than ever before.
Jeff Sigmund, Luxman America President
The company notes – much as you would expect – that the NT-07 utilizes circuitry, power supply, and chassis layout that are carefully considered. Its engineers took all necessary steps to identify and reduce all sources of noise. The unit features the latest generation of Luxman high-speed application processor modules. These modules, by the way, possess the power and speed for crunching complex processes.
Finally, the all-important power supply features a custom high-capacity transformer – no ordinary off-the-shelf transformer will suffice! The company also included a pair of special 10,000 µF filter capacitors that rounded out a “highly regulated” power supply design configuration to deliver maximal stability with minimal noise.
Connecting You to Your Favorite Digital Music, Wherever It Is
Luxman’s new NT-07 is all about connecting you with your favorite digital music, wherever it resides…it’s all about connections.
- Network Attached Storage (NAS) – An included RJ-45 Ethernet port connects you to your audio data residing on your network hard drives and offers the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) protocol, as well as the OpenHome platform. The company suggests that with its rock-stable power supply, it is perfect for use with audiophile-grade storage devices.
- USB Storage – Thanks to its front and rear USB 2.0 ports, the NT-07 is ready to receive your thumb drives and larger USB drives.
- Subscription Streaming Services – With the NT-07, you gain access to something like 100 million music tracks on many of the most popular streaming services (extra cost subscription is required), such as Qobuz, TIDAL, and Spotify. The 07 also works with TuneIn, a free source of radio and podcasts.
- Roon Certification (in the works) – Luxman anticipates adding Roon as an option as it is currently undergoing the Roon-ready output device certification process. With Roon, you can play music files from iOS, MacOS, and Windows OS devices. It also supports network streaming with easy-to-browse metadata, playlists, personalization, and the ability to display album, track, cover art, and lyrics on a TV.
- HDMI Inputs & Outputs with ARC – Also included are HDMI inputs and outputs to allow connection with integrated audio/video systems. This HDMI connectivity can handle audio from televisions, Blu-ray Disc players, game consoles, and other video sources. The NT-07 even supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) and two-channel HDMI audio output with PCM encoding up to 192kHz sampling and 24-bit quantization.
File formats supported by the NT-07 include WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, MQA, MP3, AAC, and DSD (both DSF and DFF versions).
Just Add Your Favorite DAC and You’re Good to Go
All you need to add is your favorite digital-to-analog converter (DAC), either an outboard unit or through a disc player that offers internal DAC access via digital inputs. Compatible Luxman models include D-07X, D-10X, D-03X, and D-N150. The NT-07 outputs a digital signal via USB, optical, or coaxial connections.
- USB – Supports PCM sampling up to 768 kHz/32-bits and DSD sampling up to 22.5 MHz/1 bit
- Optical & Coaxial Outputs – 192kHz/24-bit sampling
The NT-07 also offers MQA decoding with three selectable modes – Off, Core Decoding, and Pass-Through.
To optimize the playback, the 07 also offers an intelligent resampling function that matches the sampling frequency and bit depth supported by the connected DAC and supports PCM at sampling rates from 44.1 to 384 kHz. Luxman provides individual up/down sampling settings.
You’re in Full Control of the NT-07
Now, you may have noticed that there is only one control on the NT-07 face panel. Don’t be alarmed, Luxman provides multiple options for fully controlling your unit. For many users, they’ll simply pull out their favorite smartphone or tablet and launch the Luxman Stream app. This app is available for both iOS and Android devices and gives you a commanding view of all functions including configuration, select sources, select songs, and control playback.
The 07 also includes a stylish aluminum IR remote control, known as the RC-30, which provides users an alternative path to full control of the system without resorting to launching an app. In addition to controlling the streamer, it can also be used to control basic playback of Luxman disc players and up/down volume of Luxman integrated amplifiers or control amplifiers.
Need even more control? The NT-07 also offers 12-volt control input/output connectivity for integration into a larger scale system.
