Some of you may know that I health walk most mornings. I am always listening to something during these walks, which average 2-3 miles a day. Often, I’m listening to music. (Did you know that I was formerly a professional musician?) But I also listen to several different podcasts, and today I want to share with you one that I enjoy and I think you will too. Residential Tech Today Editor Jeremy Glowacki interviewed Ted Green – yeah, that’s me – for their podcast which is available in both audio-only or audio/video formats. What a weird experience it was for me! I’m used to being the questioner…not the questioned. Especially when you consider the fact that Jeremy and I are friends and talk frequently about everything from the business to family and friends – it was strange when he invited me to be on the podcast and shifted into professional editor mode.
And, he asked real questions – such as why Strata-gee can sometimes be controversial and how I came to this role.

In new data from eMarketer, we learn that digital audio continues to grow even in the wake of a global pandemic. And by grow, they mean that the time users spend listening to this type of content continues to increase. Early in the pandemic, this didn’t necessarily look like it would be the case, as homebound consumers turned to traditional TV or social media (or both) leading many researchers to suggest digital audio would lose some ground.

We live in a time rich in options for ways to connect with and consume content. If I asked you to pick which source was the number one method that adults aged 18 and older use to consume content today, which would you choose: Smartphone? Tablet? PC? TV connected device? TV? AM/FM radio?
If you picked that last option, AM/FM radio, you would be correct! Fully 93% of all adults use an AM/FM radio to consume content on a weekly basis. Surprised? Hold on to your hat…that’s just one of the many surprising results in new research study from The Nielsen Company that says we are now in an audio resurgence.
