Savant, a leading home control & automation company, announced today that it is making an app available for the Apple smart watch – called, logically enough, the Savant App on Apple Watch. Since Savant is one of the only home automation companies to base their control systems on the Apple operating system, it only makes sense that they would be one of the first in the tech business to offer an Apple Watch app.

New market research on the smart home market says the global consumer market will grow to be valued at around $58.7 billion by 2020. Market researcher MarketsandMarkets predicts that recent developments in the channel will fuel a 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2015 to 2020 leading to the creation of a significant consumer market.

New Research Quantifies Impact of ‘Showrooming’
New research released today from Harris Interactive, conducted on behalf of CouponCabin.com, provides a sobering look at how prevalent the practice of showrooming is among smartphone- and tablet-owning retail shoppers. Showrooming is where retail shoppers use their smartphone or tablet to look up lower prices on items they see in the retail showroom to purchase later from an online merchant.
According to the survey, more than 43% of smartphone and tablet owning consumers admit to showrooming. This figure, alarmingly close to 50%, is likely to be much higher than many industry observers would have expected.
